Coney Island

My last day in NY I set out to Brooklyn on a photo adventure to meet up with two of my favorite UF photogs Celia Tobin and Danny Ghitis. It was so wonderful to be around old friends in a new place. With plastic bags as snow gear in hand, we set out to photograph the emptiness that is winter at Coney Island. After about two minutes out there in the cold I lost feeling in my hands, and my feet were like giant puddles. My lens fogged up and my fingers were strugglin to change the camera dials through the gloves and the plastic bag.

But, the bottom line is... It was a Blast, and I would not have wanted it any other way. Ok, I take that back, thicker socks and snow boats would have been AWESOME!

"Run and Jump, Run and jump GO!(mumbled through my bundling up of course!) We laughed so hard when we realized they jumped the same way;)

And last but not least, Coney Island's metal beauty

The Big Apple

My trip to NY was a sweet sucess;) I got to see lots of photo and college friends and got to further explore the city I have grown so familiar with over the years.

From Starbucks in Central Park to Photography Exhibits on the west side, to Lunch meet-ups and Dinner sit downs, NY treated me well yet again. So for now I say goodbye to this fond city... I look forward to our next ron de vue!

Taking the bus in from NJ to NY one snowy morning

Central Park with a clean ice skating rink

It snowed the hole time I was there;)

Ground Zero

The Beautiful New York City Library

One of my nights in the city, a friend of mine and I hit up a photo exhibit displaying images captured by Chad Riley which brought many reflections into my mind both literally, and metaphorically. The benefit was held as a means to raise money for a media team to visit Thailand in hopes of shedding light on the injustice of sex trafficking in that country. As many of you know, last summer I worked on a photo project with teenage girls who have been rescued from sexual exploitation, so this issue is very close to my heart. It was great to be able to share in the NY art scene while supporting a cause I truly care about.

NJ.NY

As Many of you know I am in the NY area for the week. I made a stop by my grandparents house on the Jersey Shore before making my way into the City tomorrow morning.(If you're in NY Wed-Sat hit me up)

I had the privilege of leaving ATL way to early yesterday and getting here just in time to hit their first decent snow storm of the year...Wahoo! Being a Florida Girl who grew up in the sun on the beach, I love every chance I get to see snow;)

Pics from the Big Apple to come at the end of the week;)

My grandparents were watching me from the house as I played and took pictures at the beginning of the snow fall. I'm sure they thought I was crazy. I was so excited to see it. This picture reminds me of when I was younger and they would watch me and my aunts and uncles play in the front yard.

That's NYC in the distance!! So close yet so far... TOMORROW! Hurray!

We took a walk to the beach in the snow. I remember when this swing set use to be functional. Now the beach erosion has taken over and the sand and snow has gotten the best of them. So Sad.

ATL Photo Weekend

Had a great photo weekend talking shop and catching up with old photo friends while meeting new ones. One can always count on photography seminars for reunions and many photos of photographers taking photos. Such a good weekend. I will admit I felt a little lonely come Monday when all my photo friends were gone and I was left alone just me an my camera.

Want to send a shout out to my photo friends who paced at the Atlanta contest. Congrats to Kevin German of LUCEO Images for placing 3rd in Best Portfolio and to Tim Hussin of The University of Florida for placing 2nd in Best Student Portfolio.
